What is Auris?
Auris is a Chrome extension that reads AI chat answers out loud in real time. It starts speaking the moment ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity begins streaming a reply, skips code blocks, and is controlled with keyboard shortcuts. Your conversations stay on your device.
Who is Auris for?
Anyone who would rather hear AI answers than read them: people who use AI all day and want to rest their eyes, people with ADHD or dyslexia who find long text hard going, students, and anyone cooking, tidying, or moving around while they work. Auris is not a screen reader and is not yet tested with VoiceOver, NVDA, or JAWS.
Is my data safe?
Yes, by design. Auris reads only the conversation already on your screen and speaks it with your device's own speech engine, inside your browser. Your conversation text is never sent anywhere. The one network call Auris makes is checking your license key with our payment provider, about once a day.
Doesn't ChatGPT already have read aloud?
ChatGPT has a read aloud button on each message. Auris is different in three ways: it starts speaking while the answer is still streaming, it works the same way across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity, and it runs hands-free, so you never click a speaker icon on each reply.
Which AI chats does it work on?
Auris is tuned for ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. It also has built-in support for other popular AI chats, and you can switch it on for any other site in one click from the Auris menu. Selected text can be read on any site you enable with Alt+A.
Does it break the AI platforms' terms?
Auris is an assistive layer, like a screen reader. It does not automate messages, scrape data, bypass limits, or touch any API. It simply voices content you already have on screen, on your own device.
Why not just use voice mode?
Voice mode flips you into a completely different conversation. Auris voices the chat you are already in, with your full history, your prompts, your long-form answers. No switching, no starting over, no different interface to get used to.
Which browsers?
Auris is built for Google Chrome on desktop. It installs from the Chrome Web Store, so Chromium browsers such as Edge, Brave, and Arc can usually run it too. Firefox and Safari are not supported yet.
What about code-heavy answers?
Code blocks are skipped and politely announced, so listening stays useful even for technical work. You can turn announcements off.
What is the refund policy?
7 days, no questions asked. If Auris is not working for you in the first week, email hello@heyauris.com and you will get a full refund. Once a refund is issued, your license is deactivated and the extension locks within a day.
Can I install it before buying?
Yes. Auris installs free from the Chrome Web Store. Reading aloud unlocks once you activate a license key, which you get by email right after purchase.
How do I activate after purchasing?
After checkout, Dodo Payments emails you a license key. Open the Auris extension, click Activate, paste the key, and you are done. Takes about 30 seconds. If the email does not show up, check spam or reach out at hello@heyauris.com.
What happens when my subscription expires?
The extension locks and stops reading aloud. Your settings stay saved. Renew and it picks up exactly where it left off. Nothing is deleted.
